Job Summary: 

The Global Transportation manager has global responsibility for inbound and outbound freight, including import and export compliance, parcel, LTL, TL, Ocean, intermodal, and air freight.

Responsibilities: 
  • Manages all activities associated with domestic and international transportation services, including carrier selection, rate negotiations, freight audit and payment, cost controls, and functional reporting
  • Provides direction and expertise on the implementation of cost effective transportation systems
  • Develops and ensures implementation of policies
  • Provides direction for the identification and analysis of transportation costs, equipment availability and service levels, making recommendations as required to improve the effectiveness of transportation programs; keeps update on regulatory changes
  • Ensures that the company is in compliance with tariff rules, I.C.C. regulations and federal and state transportation laws
Qualifications: 

Education & Training:
Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field

Experience:
10+ years’ experience in logistics industry with hands on experience in international freight management

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to project-manage, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence others
  • Capable of working individually or as part of a multifunctional team including peers and/or senior managers
  • Supplier management experience in Logistics
  • Logistics supply base knowledge
  • Negotiation and contract experience
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, MRP, production and material control theory; experience in Oracle a plus
