Job Summary: 

Cubify, 3D Systems’ web initiative to make 3D printing easy and accessible to all, is looking for a Packaging Design Manager to coordinate and own the packaging process from start to finish for 3D Systems’ full suite of products. Products include all manner of scanners and printers and range from consumer to professional, from hand-held to large industrial equipment, from $1K to $1M. The Packaging Design Manager will report to the Creative Director and oversee every aspect of the company’s packaging efforts to ensure a seamless unboxing experience.

Responsibilities: 
  • Prioritize and manage multiple complex packaging projects simultaneously with an established timeframe and budget, with an eye on out-of-box experience for all types of products and users
  • Monitor and control consistent packaging experience across the product lines, including creative design, layout and copy edits, photography of product, inserts, sourcing, production, and in-store displays where necessary; ensure packaging compliance with brand and photography style guides
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers and marketing to build one cohesive packaging experience; liaise with varous departments as needed to provide guidance and education on packaging issues
  • Merge design, environmental considerations, brand experience and cost-effective practices into every packaging project
  • Update, create and launch packaging specs for various departments
  • Actively review all aspects of packaging to ensure most effective methods are used, ensuring minimal risk to the product; hold reviews for feedback, identifying areas needing improvement
  • Review all production proofs from packaging suppliers
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with packaging suppliers
Qualifications: 

Education and Training: 

BS in Industrial Design or Industrial Engineering with a focus on packing is desired.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years design and project management experience, with thorough portfolio available for review

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Understanding of packaging production from start to finish, including knowledge of the print industry
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills to be able to manage many projects at once, identify needs, priorities and schedules
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and drive packaging solutions across multi-disciplinary groups
  • Strong communication and presentation skills necessary to effectively present, explain, negotiate and monitor solutions
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator & Microsoft Office
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, flexible environment
