Job Summary: 

Director of Manufacturing Engineering position is responsible for directing and managing the day-to-day activities of the manufacturing engineering department for 3D printing technologies related to new product launches and sustaining engineering for multiple locations (SC, VA, MA, OR, and FR). 

Responsibilities: 
  • Participate actively in the development of new products and processes used to manufacture new products
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing processes to support the company’s, productivity, growth, and new product launch plans
  • Track, report and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of current processes
  • Establish workflow and assembly methods to maximize efficiency of manufacturing operations
  • Interface with internal departments to analyze data and provide solutions for manufacturing engineering issues
  • Plan and direct the purchase, maintenance, and layout of equipment
  • Design tolling and fixturing for efficient manufacture of assemblies
  • Direct the organization in maintaining and designing safety and ergonomics into equipment and manufacturing lines strategies
  • Explore opportunities to optimize equipment and facilities. 
  • Apply advanced manufacturing engineering leadership techniques, including lean manufacturing 
  • Direct/lead team and projects
Qualifications: 

Education and Training:

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineeringrequired 
  • Masters preferred - MBA or MS (Need Business Understanding) 
  • Six Sigma Black Belt and/or Lean Expert preferred

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years manufacturing engineering leadership experience
  • Demonstrated engineering support for complex manufacturing facilities
  • Large project and/or program management experience 
  • Facility layout planning and execution experience

  • Assembly line design with strong technical capabilities
  • Change agent to invite engagement from executive leadership
  • Strong engineering & business presence 
  • Ability to influence executive leadership, direct, and non-direct  reports

  • Knowledge of capital planning and prioritization processes
  • Knowledge of Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) 
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
  • CNC and conventional machining knowledge a preferred
  • Knowledge of injection molding tool design and processes a plus  
  • Must be capable of traveling both domestically and internationally up to 25%
