RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, October 18, 2007- Registration is underway for Convergence 2008, the second annual Geomagic user conference, to be held March 4-6 in Research Triangle Park, N.C.

Convergence 2008 will unite Geomagic developers, users and technology partners to explore new applications, best practices and innovation in digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP). Leading companies around the world use Geomagic software to implement DSSP, which closes the loop between physical products and their digital representations. Applications include digital reconstruction, 3D quality inspection and engineering analysis.

In addition to papers from researchers, designers and engineers, Convergence 2008 will include demonstrations of new Geomagic products and events that provide the opportunity to network and learn in an informal environment.

Registration for Convergence 2008 is $395 now through January 28, 2008, and $495 after.

Building on good reviews

Convergence 2007, this past February, received rave reviews from participants.

"It was a great opportunity to meet and interact with people using Geomagic software," says Raymond J. Hawkins of Lufkin Industries. "I was able to meet a good number of contacts, which was my main reason for attending. The speakers were also very informative and interesting. Had a good time and look forward to attending next year."

"Geomagic presented not only a wealth of information and networking opportunities but in an environment where one didn't have to work at creating conversation," says Steve Pilgram of Metaltek. "I definitely look forward to attending next year. "

Marks and Fu to keynote

Keynote speakers at Convergence 2008 will be Peter Marks, managing director of Design Insight, and Ping Fu, president and CEO of Geomagic.

Marks coined the term DSSP in his 2005 Blue Book for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) – Capturing a Competitive Edge Through Digital Shape Sampling & Processing. He has published three books, more than 80 articles, 40 benchmark studies, and several films covering various aspects of new product and process development.

Fu is the visionary who has led Geomagic's charge to transform DSSP from concept to essential strategy for companies throughout the world. Before co-founding Geomagic, she played central roles in developing the first web browser, creating the seminal special effects for Terminator 2, and making digital telephony possible.
