VALENCIA, Calif., Apr. 30, 2002 - 3D Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: TDSC) today announced it is developing a new solid imaging technology that produces plastic-like models using a combination of photocurable hot melt materials and inkjet printing.

“This technology advancement, now in the final phase of development, represents a significant evolution of our Multi-Jet Modeling (MJM) product line which will provide numerous benefits for our customers,” said Grant Flaharty, executive vice president of worldwide business operations.

“The new technology combines 3D Systems’ expertise in photocurable materials with our proven ink-jet based MJM technology to offer the best of both – durable photopolymer-based materials delivered via an easy-to-use 3-D printer. The resulting product will be commercialized in 2002 and enable designers, engineers and other 3-D data users to quickly, easily and conveniently produce cost-effective, high-quality durable models in their office.

“As with other products in our MJM line, the output is best suited for visual design communication such as proposals, teaching aids, product styling, quotation requests and ergonomic evaluations,” Flaharty added.

About 3D Systems
