VALENCIA, Calif., Jul. 13, 2005 - 3D Systems Corporation (Nasdaq: TDSC), a leading provider of rapid 3-D printing, prototyping and manufacturing solutions, announced today that Butler Tool & Design, Inc. has purchased a 3D Systems’ Sinterstation® Pro SLS® system, Model 230, for its facility in Goodland, Indiana. 3D Systems expects to deliver and install its first large capacity Sinterstation Pro 230 system at Butler Tool by September of this year.

“The Sinterstation Pro is a natural addition to our growing portfolio of design and rapid manufacturing solutions,” said Jim Butler, Butler Tool & Design’s, president and CEO. “After a careful and exhaustive assessment of our customers’ existing and emerging needs and a survey of the variety of alternative manufacturing solutions, we decided to purchase a Sinterstation Pro 230 to enable us to build parts and components that could not be manufactured otherwise.

“Our business model depends on our ability to quickly, successfully and economically guide our customers through the entire design to manufacturing cycle. Having the on-site capability to provide just-in-time, mid-volume rapid manufacturing of injection molded-like parts for a variety of customers nicely augments and complements our more traditional manufacturing systems and opens new opportunities for Butler Tool to expand our own market reach and growth potential.”

3D Systems’ new Sinterstation Pro SLS systems, Models 140 and 230, feature intelligent process controls, modular design, automated powder handling, and the largest available laser sintering build volume. Designed to meet the demands of end-use parts manufacturing, these new systems offer excellent and repeatable part quality, significantly reduced labor intensity, clean and environmentally friendly processing, and accelerated throughput. Equipped with 3D Systems’ new Sinterstation Pro system, customers can cost-effectively manufacture medium quantities of plastic parts for a variety of applications, particularly in the aerospace, electronics and medical industries, and build large, functional prototypes, molds and patterns for automotive and consumer product applications.

“Butler Tool is exactly the kind of manufacturing user we had in mind when we designed the Sinterstation Pro 230,” said Abe Reichental, 3D Systems’ president and chief executive officer. “As a regional supplier of short-run custom parts and assemblies to a variety of major corporations, Butler Tool continually looks for the most efficient manufacturing solutions to improve its own competitive posture and in turn to help its customers improve their own bottom-line.

“The ability to manufacture production-quality large plastic parts directly from digital data makes our Sinterstation Pro an ideal flexible, economical and tool-less solution for Butler. The on-site flexibility to alternate between producing several large parts and thousands of smaller parts without the need to invest in expensive tooling or complex change-overs in a matter of days instead of months enables Butler to provide its’ customers with a significant time to market advantage over their competitors, thus rendering Butler the supplier of choice to a growing list of forward-looking corporations.

“We are fortunate to have the opportunity to work very closely with leading-edge customers like Butler Tool & Design and to deliver expert rapid manufacturing solutions that enable their success, improve their overall performance and enhance their competitive posture. Innovative partners like Butler validate our drive and determination to provide alternative manufacturing solutions for industries such as automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics and other applications,” concluded Reichental.
