3D Systems Announces the Appointment of Assad Ansari as Vice President Global Engineering

VALENCIA, Calif., Jul. 28, 2004 - 3D Systems Corporation (Nasdaq: TDSC) announced today that it has named Assad Ansari to the position of Vice President Global Engineering, effective August 2, 2004.

Ansari joins 3D Systems with 23 years experience in industrial automation research and product development. Ansari comes to 3D Systems from Giddings & Lewis, LLC, a division of ThyssenKrupp Metal Cutting. As Vice President Engineering at Giddings & Lewis, Ansari was responsible for the development of CNC, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), General Motion products and systems. Prior to his employment with Giddings & Lewis, Ansari held several management positions with Rockwell Automation and General Electric, where he was instrumental in developing and executing advanced technology programs and automation systems development architectures.

Ansari holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, MSEE, and BSEE from the University of Cincinnati. He is a member of Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Honor Society, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers). Ansari has also served as chair or member of the board on several technical consortia and exchange councils.
