VALENCIA, Calif., Jun. 22, 2005 -
3D Systems Corporation (Nasdaq: TDSC), a leading provider of rapid 3-D printing, prototyping and manufacturing solutions, announced today that INCS Inc. has installed the first Sinterstation® Pro SLS® system in Japan.
Providing innovative product design, development and manufacturing services to many of Japan’s leading automotive and electronics companies, INCS utilizes more than thirty of 3D Systems’ stereolithography (SLA®) systems and six of 3D Systems’ selective laser sintering (SLS) systems. 3D Systems’ new Sinterstation Pro SLS systems, Models 140 and 230, feature intelligent process controls, modular design, automated powder handling, and the largest available laser sintering build volume. Designed to meet the demands of end-use part manufacturing, these new systems offer excellent and repeatable part quality, significantly reduced labor intensity, clean and environmentally friendly processing, and accelerated throughput. Equipped with 3D Systems’ new Sinterstation Pro system, customers can cost-effectively manufacture medium quantities of plastic parts for a variety of applications, particularly in the aerospace, electronics and medical industries, and build large, functional prototypes, molds and patterns for automotive and consumer product applications.

“In the last few years, DuraForm® plastic parts made in 3D Systems’ SLS systems have become well accepted in Japan, especially for applications where durability and impact resistance are critical,” said Shinjiro Yamada, INCS' president and founder. “With
its large build volume and fast turnaround time, the new Sinterstation Pro system
enables us to deliver parts as large as automotive bumpers and electronics enclosures
to our customers much faster than we could before, allowing them to continue
to reduce their product development cycles and get to market faster.
“In addition, the Sinterstation Pro’s automated powder handling system significantly reduces the labor required to build parts, especially in a multi-system factory environment such as we have at our Solid Reality Center,” continued Yamada. “And
its modular design makes it easy to add additional capacity as the demand for
large functional parts continues to grow.”
“We are very pleased to have INCS as our first Sinterstation Pro customer in Japan,” said Abe Reichental, 3D Systems’ president and chief executive officer. “As
an innovative user of our SLS and SLA rapid prototyping and manufacturing systems
and a premier supplier of large parts and assemblies to some of the most demanding
customers in the world, INCS is an ideal lead-user for us to partner with so
that we can learn to exploit the full potential of this new and exciting manufacturing
system.
“While visiting Japan, I had the opportunity to personally attend the successful start-up of the INCS’ Sinterstation Pro this past Sunday. Working together with Harvest Technologies, INCS and other lead-users, we expect to accelerate the pace of transformation and adoption of rapid manufacturing solutions and arm our customers with the competitive tools they need to grow their business profitably,” concluded
Reichental.
