VALENCIA, Calif., Oct. 16, 2001 – 3D Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: TDSC) today announced the release of a new software version 2.0 for its ThermoJet® printer that includes a variety of new and enhanced features.

Among the new features are an administrative utility to access print queue privileges and a graphical display of job status. The updated software also includes a dynamic color display of support surfaces on the part, making it easier to optimize part placement for building, and improvements in UNIX software functionality.

“Our ongoing development of the ThermoJet product helps ensure that it continues to benefit our 3-D printer customers,” said Clark Crawford, senior director of business development for office systems. “The enhancements we have made enable our customers greater functionality and ease of use.”

The software will be included with all new machine shipments. 3D Systems will provide the software at no additional cost to customers under its service contract or warranty. Other customers who wish to obtain the software may contact their local sales representative or call 888/337-9786 or 661/295-5600 internationally.

3D Systems’ ThermoJet solid object printer creates physical models from computer-aided design (CAD) data, by printing successive layers of thermoplastic material, much like an inkjet printer. Printed models can be used for verifying and communicating designs as well as patterns for investment casting.

About 3D Systems
Founded in 1986, 3D Systems provides solid imaging products and solutions that help reduce the time and cost of designing products and facilitate direct and indirect manufacturing. Its systems utilize patented technologies that create physical objects from digital input.

3D Systems currently offers the ThermoJet® solid object printer, SLA® systems (stereolithography) and SLS® systems (selective laser sintering), as well as related software and materials. Product pricing in the U.S. ranges from $49,995, for the ThermoJet printer, to $799,000 for the high-end SLA 7000 system. The company licenses the complementary 3D KeltoolŪ process, a method for producing steel mold inserts, and currently is developing systems that use composite paste materials for direct manufacturing. In August, 3D Systems merged with DTM Corp.
