VALENCIA, Calif., Oct. 16, 2001 – 3D Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: TDSC) today announced the release of a new software version 2.0 for its ThermoJet® printer that includes a variety of new and enhanced features.

Among the new features are an administrative utility to access print queue privileges and a graphical display of job status. The updated software also includes a dynamic color display of support surfaces on the part, making it easier to optimize part placement for building, and improvements in UNIX software functionality.

“Our ongoing development of the ThermoJet product helps ensure that it continues to benefit our 3-D printer customers,” said Clark Crawford, senior director of business development for office systems. “The enhancements we have made enable our customers greater functionality and ease of use.”

The software will be included with all new machine shipments. 3D Systems will provide the software at no additional cost to customers under its service contract or warranty. 3D Systems’ ThermoJet solid object printer creates physical models from computer-aided design (CAD) data, by printing successive layers of thermoplastic material, much like an inkjet printer. Printed models can be used for verifying and communicating designs as well as patterns for investment casting.
