An engineer-physician team working at Shriners Hospitals for Children® in Springfield, Massachusetts has developed one of the most inspiring applications for 3D scanning technology.  This dynamic duo, consisting of prosthetics researcher Beth Roscoe and surgeon Dr. Philip Stoddard, has developed a new treatment to correct wide cleft lips and palates. By using our selective laser sintering technology to manufacture a series of treatment appliances, the team has been able to successfully shrink the gaps in patients’ mouths before surgery.  Read more about the entire process here, and see how the team has been able to literally bring smiles back to children’s faces.
