Have you been looking to "make stuff" recently? Well, now's your chance. The Fab Lab is coming to the American Tobacco campus next week, and we're helping pack it with some pretty cool technology. The best part is, you get to play with it. Scanners, laser cutters, computer controlled milling machines, and a 3D printer will be on hand to help bring your creation to life.
The Mobile Fab Lab, created by MIT's Center for Bits and Atoms, is 250 sq ft of work space to help you design and create artistic or practical projects and transform user's inventions from ideas to functioning prototypes. The purpose behind Fab Lab is to empower those who have little or no design or fabrication experience by giving them guideance, and the tools, necessary to create an object they previously would have thought wouldn't be possible. We are proud to be donating a rotary axis for the Epilog Laser Cutter that will be on board. We'll also be bringing out a Creaform Handyscan 3D scanner and Geomagic Studio 12 software to show attendees how to transform 3D scan data into digital models.
