This week's Knowledge Base Nugget is Parametric Exchange!

Q: What is Parametric Exchange?

A: Parametric Exchange for SolidWorks, AutoDesk Inventor, CATIA, and Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire!

Parametric Exchange is a feature that reduces product development time by enabling seamless transfer of parametric surfaces, solids, Features, and curves from Geomagic Studio software to major CAD packages, without the need for intermediate neutral files such as IGES or STEP. It provides an intelligent connection between Geomagic Studio and the CAD package to enable automatic native reconstruction of geometry from scan data. Parametric Exchange is currently available for Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, CATIA, and Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, and Creo 1.0.

Parametric Exchange was available in Studio 10x as a separate download for users interested in a preview of the technology before it was released. Since then, we do not provide a separate installer for Parametric Exchange. During installation of Geomagic Studio the user will be prompted to install Parametric Exchange. The default is not to install PX and the user must check the box to install the components for each CAD package already installed on the workstation.
