Several months ago we reported that ASDA, a top UK supermarket chain and subsidiary of Walmart, was in the test stage of their unique, in-store 3D scanning and 3D printing service using 3D Systems ColoJet 3D printing technology. After a months-long trial, the service, in which customers are scanned in store and then handed a 3d printed “Mini Me” one week later, has been dubbed a “resounding success.” On the heels of that success, ASDA is planning to expand the service to 50 stores across the UK.
