Trauma Management Module

Module includes both trauma scenarios for clinicians to practice the Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) technique as well as trauma related embolization scenarios.

REBOA is a new live-saving technique used by trauma surgeons and emergency teams to control hemorrhaging from chest, abdomen or pelvis injuries. It involves rapidly placing a catheter into the femoral artery, maneuvering it into the aorta and inflating a balloon at its tip. This stops blood flow beyond the balloon, essentially halting any bleeding, while also stopping all blood flow distal to the balloon. This is a temporary maneuver and is used as a bridge to enable the transfer of severely injured patients to the operating room or angiographic suite.
