• E-Commerce Site Enhances Experience for Fast-Turn Prototyping
  • Rapid Prototyping Stimulates Product Development, Speeds Time to Market

FRANKFURT, Germany, November 14, 2017 – Today, at formnext 2017, 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD) announced the availability of its On Demand Manufacturing Services Quickparts® e-commerce platform in EMEA. The e-commerce site enables customers to generate quotes and order parts for fast-turn prototyping of metal and plastic prototypes with delivery in as little as one day. By uploading a CAD file for immediate quote or expert consultation, customers access a direct path to production with the highest quality output in the industry.

Following the successful launch of the platform in the United States, the company has expanded the service offering to the EMEA region, with fulfilment provided by one of five manufacturing facilities in Europe: Belgium, UK, Benelux, France, and Italy.

Rapid Prototyping Propels Agile Manufacturing

To stay competitive, manufacturers must find ways to stimulate the product development process. In most companies, product development is a sequential iterative process, and each iterative loop provides new knowledge about what works and what doesn’t. It can be a time-consuming process; in today’s market time is the resource in shortest supply. Manufacturers benefit from achieving prototypes in hours and days, rather than weeks, enabling companies to significantly improve product time-to-market as well as deliver a superior product within that shortened time.

3D Systems’ Quickparts e-commerce experience provides an intuitive, convenient way to upload files, receive quotes, and quickly purchase and receive prototypes as well as low volume, functional production parts.

Customers can order parts via the platform, selecting from 12 additive and traditional manufacturing processes including Stereolithography (SLA), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), ColorJet Printing (CJP), Direct Metal Printing (DMP), Wax Patterns with MultiJet Printing (MJP), Vacuum Casting, Rapid Moulded Parts, Sheet Metal, Injection Mould Tooling, Die Casts, QuickCasts, or CNC Machined Parts.

Features of the service include:

- Order from 12 available technologies, including SLA, SLS, DMP, CNC and other casting technologies; select technologies available for auto-quoting

- Confirmed orders ship within 3 working days (dependent on order size and complexity)

- Full range of materials and finishes are available

- Easy payment via credit card

- Available in 5 languages: German, French, Spanish, Italian, English

“Many of our customers need instantaneous help with design challenges, materials, and processes, while others need a simple way to validate their design,” said Phil Schultz, senior vice president, On Demand Manufacturing Services and Plastics, 3D Systems. “We are very pleased to offer this new e-commerce experience to our customers in the EMEA region; enabling them to quickly and easily bring their designs to life and move from prototyping to production.”
