RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., February 23, 2004- Ping Fu, president and CEO of Geomagic, was selected by Fast Company as a Fast 50 winner in the magazine’s third annual reader’s challenge.

The award, given to 50 individuals from 1,650 entries worldwide, recognizes the “doers and the dreamers, the truth tellers and the trendsetters,” according to an article in the March issue of the magazine.

Ping Fu co-founded Geomagic in 1996 with Herbert Edelsbrunner, a leading researcher in computational geometry and topology. Geomagic’s products enable designers and engineers to capture scan data from physical parts and create highly accurate digital models. They are used by manufacturers for mass production of customized devices, build-to-order manufacturing, automatic re-creation of physical parts and molds, and computer-aided inspection.

Fu took over as president and CEO of Geomagic in early 2001, initiating a set of corporate changes that jump-started product sales and significantly reduced costs. The measures helped Geomagic become profitable and increase revenue by 935 percent over the last five years.

“I share this award with all those at Geomagic who have dedicated their minds and hearts to making the company a success, and to my family for its support,” says Fu. “Last year was the best in the company’s history, but it is only a small indicator of what we can do in the future.”
