RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N. C., April 11, 2008- Geomagic has released Geomagic Qualify 10, new computer-aided inspection software for users of multi-sensor metrology systems. Geomagic Qualify 10 will be demonstrated in the Geomagic booth at MRO 2008 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., USA, April 15 to 17, and Control 2008 in Stuttgart, Germany, April 22 to 25.

Geomagic Qualify 10 streamlines workflow, improves alignment accuracy, and provides comprehensive inspection coverage for users who want to take advantage of the combined strengths of 3D scanners and hard probes. A single interface enables users to perform a complete inspection of every type of shape and feature that characterizes an object, saving time and increasing inspection accuracy.

New capabilities in Geomagic Qualify 10 enable users to quickly detect and inspect geometrical features such as points, holes, slots, cones, cylinders, planes and spheres. The software automates feature creation and tasks such as calculating size, analyzing fit, comparing 2D and 3D features, and measuring point-to-point and feature-to-feature distances and angles. A new streamlined feature framework enables users to more efficiently analyze, measure and report dimensional characteristics and fitting statistics of geometrical features.

The new hard probing and 3D feature capabilities in Geomagic Qualify 10 are fully integrated with functions such as alignment, GD&T, and 2D and 3D dimensioning that are popular with users of 3D scanning systems that generate dense point clouds.

Geomagic Qualify 10 supports 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. The 64-bit edition of Geomagic Qualify 10 enables users to take advantage of the expanded memory capacity of 64-bit computer systems to process huge datasets generated by the newest generation of non-contact 3D scanners.

Closing the 3D digital loop

"Geomagic Qualify 10 will allow us to take advantage of the best features of hard probes and 3D scanners while maintaining a single, intuitive workflow," says Rus Emerick, a process improvement specialist who has helped Schneider-Electric automate inspection across 206 manufacturing operations in 130 countries. "The 3D feature capabilities in Geomagic Qualify 10 will close the 3D digital loop. We'll be able to do everything - design, engineer and inspect - within a 3D environment."

"With the new hard probing features in Qualify 10, we can now align the part much faster and with confidence," says Sman Hansrisuk, a reverse engineering specialist at TurboCare, a worldwide leader in providing integrated aftermarket solutions. "We can also measure prismatic features with a probe just like in conventional CMM. I have no doubts that the new features in Geomagic Qualify 10 will help us gain significant productivity."

Geomagic Qualify 10 ships with both 32- and 64-bit editions on the CD, and supports English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese languages. Customers with active maintenance can download the Qualify 10 upgrade from Geomagic's portal https://portal.geomagic.com.

About Geomagic Qualify
