ORLANDO, Fla., June 9, 2010- Geomagic, PartnerAdvantage™ member, today released Geomagic Studio 12, the latest version of the company's reverse engineering software that creates 3D parametric models for direct exchange with Pro/ENGINEER. Geomagic Studio 12 combines unparalleled ease of use with powerful new features that improve results and save time.
Simple meets powerful
Greater ease of use in Geomagic Studio 12 comes from a new ribbon-style interface like the familiar one pioneered by Microsoft in Office 2007. Major new features in version 12 accelerate workflow and provide greater integration with Pro/ENGINEER.
Geomagic Studio 12 represents a leap forward for Robb Rudluff, design engineer at pHluid, which provides engineering services that speed product development and improve quality for customers such as Quatro Composites, Edwards Lifesciences, G&G Motorsports and others.
"The new ribbon interface makes it simple to access the comprehensive features of Geomagic Studio 12 - they're all right in front of you in a left-to-right layout," says Rudluff. "The ability to automatically trim, join, cut or subtract surfaces and solids in Geomagic Studio's Parametric Exchange further streamlines the process of turning scan data into fully parametric, native-format Pro/ENGINEER models that my customers can put to immediate use."
Bridging the divide
According to Andy Barlow, Senior Director of Business Development for PTC, "The tight integration between Geomagic Studio 12 and Pro/ENGINEER demonstrates the benefits of the tools and support provided by PTC's PartnerAdvantage program.
"Geomagic Studio 12 offers our mutual customers a simple, integrated and powerful workflow for transforming 3D scan data into native Pro/ENGINEER models," says Barlow. "It not only bridges the divide between scanning and CAD, but also forges closer connections between physical and digital design worlds."
Fastest path from points to CAD
New features in Geomagic Studio 12 that optimize reverse engineering workflow include:
- Automatic surface and solid trimming in Parametric Exchange, leading to faster creation of full-fidelity CAD models.
- More flexible workflows to support faster design iterations.
- Fast and intuitive hole-filling and improved automatic "healing" of polygon meshes.
Groundbreaking news for 3D inspection
Geomagic also today released Geomagic Qualify 12, the latest version of the company's quality inspection software, which also boasts the new ribbon interface.
The most groundbreaking new feature in Geomagic Qualify is the ability to embed colorized and annotated 3D models directly in a PDF report. Other new features include:
- Quick feature creation to speed up the creation of inspection plans.
- New algorithms for aligning test models with reference models.
- A WYSIWYG report template designer that makes simple customization easy, but has the power to support the most complex customization needs.
Greater speed and compatibility
Both Geomagic Studio and Qualify now support Windows 7 and have been optimized to run up to 40 percent faster. A new start page provides fast and convenient access to files, frequently used tasks, and helpful resources such as a technical support knowledge base and sample data.
Geomagic supports the industry's widest range of scanners and input devices, representing more than 80 percent of all digitizing devices sold, with new devices and integrations added continually.
Geomagic Studio and Qualify 12 are available now. They ship with both 32- and 64-bit editions on the CD, and support English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese.
