Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM® software for programming CNC machine tools and a Cimatron company, announced today that, in addition to demonstrations within its own exhibit at IMTS 2008, D-3001, it will display its software in the Mori Seiki exhibit, A-8400. Salient features of the GibbsCAM software include enhancements within the forthcoming GibbsCAM 2009 release and the recently released GibbsCAM post processors developed for the Mori Seiki NZ series of machine tools.

"We are pleased to display our latest software and the post processors that resulted from our collaboration with Mori Seiki engineers," says Bill Gibbs, founder and CEO of Gibbs and Associates. "We take pride in our ability to support the features of the latest multi-axis, multi-spindle and multi-turret machines with ease-of-use functions and post processors that increase productivity for our production machining customers across machine tool product lines."

The latest GibbsCAM features include advanced 3D high speed machining and unique MTM programming and post processing functions. In addition to post processors for the Mori Seiki NZ series, NT series, NL series, ZL series, DL series, SL series, ZT series, GibbsCAM post processors for Mori Seiki's NMV series of 5-Axis machine tools are also available. Key among the GibbsCAM programming, post processing and verification functions to support the Mori Seiki machines are:

  • Synchronization with GibbsCAM MTM Synch Manager to optimize turret utilization and cycle times,
  • Spinning tool, to support the Mori Seiki developed simultaneous spinning of part and cutting tool during material removal,
  • Pinch or balanced turning, to work simultaneously with upper and lower turrets on the same spindle,
  • Double or synchronized milling, for simultaneous milling and drilling with upper and lower turrets on the same spindle,
  • Y-axis support on all turrets,
  • Simultaneous 4 and 5-axis machining,
  • Machine simulation for visual verification and collision detection and avoidance, and
  • Gang style tool-holder-block support for fixed and live tools in machine simulation.
