Aberdeen Group's findings show Cimatron customers deliver one week faster than the industry's Best-in-Class, four weeks faster than the industry laggards

Givat Shmuel, Israel – August 1, 2007 – Findings from the Aberdeen Group's 21st Century Mold and Die Shop Benchmark study show that Cimatron customers are able to provide significantly faster delivery times than those offered by the rest of the industry. On average, Cimatron customers deliver products one week earlier than shops classified by Aberdeen as industry Best-In-Class, and as much as four weeks earlier than shops classified as Laggards.

The study shows that the average delivery time for Laggard companies is 11.6 weeks, while Best-in-Class companies take an average of 8.7 weeks. Additional analysis of the data conducted by Aberdeen but not included in the published report shows that Cimatron customers require an average of just 7.9 weeks to deliver products to their customers.

"Interestingly, mold and die shops are now taking advantage of the value delivered by CAD, CAM and CAE technologies that mainline product development has been reaping for years," said Chad Jackson, Research and Service Director of Aberdeen's Product Innovation and Engineering practice and report author. "As a result, Best-in-Class shops are delivering tooling to their customers 3 weeks earlier than laggards. That means more jobs during the course of the year and increased revenue."

The report shows that Best-in-Class are increasing efficiency with standardized processes and roles that are supported with CAD, CAM and CAE technologies that have been specialized and automated specifically for the tooling industry. For example, among mold and die shops surveyed, 64% use CAD with tooling design automation, 70% use CAE to predict behavior of tooling in its eventual production environment and 63% use high speed machining technologies.

"Thanks to Cimatron DieDesign, we are establishing a quotation at an average of only one hour including the blanking, strip layout, and material utilization," said Thorsten Franke, Project Manager at Ernst Keller GmbH (Arnsberg, Germany). "Prior to DieDesign, we needed six hours for this kind of work."

"After we did our evaluation, we found nothing that could beat what was offered by Cimatron," said Patrick Vaillancourt, Lead Designer at Moules Industries (Quebec, Canada).
