3D Systems announced the availability of eight new ProJet 3500 professional 3D printers that offers an increase in productivity are equipped with its latest remote tablet controls for the production of functional plastic parts and investment casting wax patterns for professional grade design and manufacturing applications.

The new ProJet 3500 series includes the recently introduced ProJet HD MAX and CPX MAX technology platform including its patented Multi-Jet Modeling (MJM) print technology, its production-grade printhead, advanced material management, tablet-like touchscreen controls and remote tablet and smartphone connectivity. VisiJet® print materialsare also compatible with the new series that cover the widest array of customer applications, including high-impact, high temperature resistant, durable plastic for functional testing, cast-friendly wax for rapid-foundry production and specialized materials for the manufacturing of jewelry and personalized medical devices. CNET was responsible for presenting this year’s Best of CES Awards. “The awards recognize the best products at the show, including a Best of Show award and a People's Voice award, as voted by you, the CNET audience.” (CNET) 3D Systems was announced as one of three finalists on Wednesday, January 9th in the Emerging Tech category. The other finalists were the Fulton Device-to-Device wireless charging and the Tobii Rex.
The winners were announced on January 10th and the 3D Systems CubeX won for Best Emerging Tech at CES, one of the greatest awards to receive at the show.

3D Systems and Cubify will be at the Consumer ElectronicsShow (CES) in Las Vegas this week from Tuesday, January 8 – Friday, January 11. CES is one of the largest consumer electronics shows in the United States with several thousand people and media attending. There will be many new product announcements, keynote speakers from some of the top companies in the US and exhibits from countless corporations and companies. 3D Systems announced the release of 2 new consumer printers, the Cube 2 and the Cube X. Both are faster than the first generation and can print in different materials as well.

We have signed a definitive agreement to acquire Geomagic, Inc., a leading global provider of 3D authoring solutions including design, sculpt and scan software tools that are used to create 3D content and inspect products throughout the entire design and manufacturing process. This acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, and is expected to close during the first quarter of 2013, after those conditions are met.

Geomagic has the ability for sculpting, modeling, scanning and inspecting software tools. The transaction adds complementary products and technology, increases the company’s reseller coverage globally and is expected to be accretive to its non-GAAP earnings in the first full year following the completion of transaction.

“Geomagic represents the perfect strategic fit for us and we will be thrilled to welcome 3D pioneer and Geomagic Founder and CEO Ping Fu as our Chief Strategy Officer once the deal has closed,” said Abe Reichental, President and CEO, 3D Systems. “
