COLOGNE, Germany, November 3, 2003- Geomagic has opened Geomagic GmbH, a new subsidiary to serve customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Gerd Schwaderer is the business development manager for the new operation, based in Cologne, Germany. His office provides product sales and technical support for the region known as EMEA, which accounts for 25 percent of Geomagic’s total revenue.

“The German subsidiary enables us to better support the efforts of our resellers and customers,” says Jim Johnson, vice president of worldwide sales for Geomagic. “EMEA was the last major geography without a direct Geomagic presence, and we’re pleased to establish one.”

Schwaderer has industry expertise in key markets for Geomagic. In his last position as senior automotive consultant with EDS in the Ford program office, Schwaderer did project work in reverse engineering, surfacing and virtual reality. His background also includes the consumer goods, aerospace, medical and environmental industries.

Geomagic software enables manufacturers to move easily between a physical part and its digital model for design, manufacturing and inspection, resulting in greater speed, accuracy and reliability.

“Germany’s strong manufacturing base makes it an ideal location for us to expand. We already have close ties with the automotive and industrial design industries in the region, and we look forward to further strengthening these relationships,” says Johnson.
