VR4Robots® is a high performance real-time visualisation and simulation tool providing users with the facilities to display and interact with 3-dimensional computer generated models of robotic devices and other components in a virtual world. It couples the comprehensive suite of virtual reality facilities provided by VR4MAX® with powerful functionality for driving virtual robotic mechanisms, interacting with the virtual environment, and simulating robotic operations.

VR4Robots® also allows the user to connect to the real world by means of a simple Network Enabling Module and to thereon display in real time the operation of robotic hardware.

VR4Robots® provides for user manipulation and interaction with virtual robots using a range of standard input devices including mouse and joystick. In particular, VR4Robots® supports the PHANTOM® Omni™ haptic device through the SensAble™ OpenHaptics™ toolkit. The PHANTOM® Omni™ device provides a simple and intuitive method of driving robots in the virtual world, and the force-feedback allows the operator to better interact with the environment (through touch) as well as feel the limits-of-travel.
