Bite-Rite Dental Laboratory Expands 3D Printed Denture Production with the NextDent® 300
West Virginia laboratory leverages jetted denture technology to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and expand patient access to digital dentures

For nearly four decades, Bite-Rite Dental Laboratory built its reputation on traditional denture craftsmanship. Founded in 1988 by Robert Keyser, the laboratory remained largely analog until the digital transformation of dentistry convinced the team it was time to embrace a new future. Today, that future is being powered by the NextDent® 300 MultiJet 3D printer from 3D Systems.
"We've always been an analog laboratory until about 10 years ago," said Keyser. "I wanted to venture into digital, but I mainly did it for the younger employees who would eventually take over the laboratory."
Since installing the NextDent 300 in early 2026, Bite-Rite has rapidly expanded its digital denture business, streamlining workflows while delivering durable, patient-ready prosthetics.
Searching for a Better Denture Solution
Before adopting the NextDent 300, part of the NextDent Jetted Denture Solution for multi-material monolithic dentures, Bite-Rite used several 3D printers for digital dentistry workflows, including SprintRay and Asiga systems. While digital production offered advantages, the team found that two-piece denture assembly introduced opportunities for error and required additional adjustments.
Keyser first learned about the NextDent 300 through an industry publication and immediately reached out to 3D Systems for more information. What ultimately convinced him to invest was the durability of the monolithic 3D printed dentures.
"We had seen the durability demonstrations, but what really sold me was testing the samples ourselves," Keyser recalled. "I threw one across the room, dropped it on concrete multiple times, and even tested its flexibility with pliers. It survived far more abuse than other dentures we'd evaluated."
The strength and durability of the printed dentures gave Bite-Rite confidence that the technology was ready for everyday clinical use.
Driving Productivity and Lowering Costs
In just eight months of production, Bite-Rite has transformed a significant portion of its denture business using the NextDent 300. Approximately 35% of the laboratory's standard denture production is now printed on the system.
The impact on efficiency has been substantial. Traditional denture fabrication requires materials, labor, waxing, investing, and multiple production steps. By leveraging digital workflows, Bite-Rite can scan, design, and print dentures far more efficiently.
"We're producing more, and our labor costs and cost of manufacturing have gone down significantly." said Keyser. The laboratory currently runs the printer at least once daily and often twice per day to keep pace with growing demand.
Creating New Opportunities with Copy Dentures
One of the most valuable applications for Bite-Rite has been the ability to create copy dentures from existing prosthetics.
Using digital scanning and design tools, the laboratory can reproduce dentures that patients have worn comfortably for years, regardless of original manufacturing technique, while improving fit through a new impression or reline process. This approach reduces appointments from the traditional 4 to 5 visits down to as few as 2 or 3, improving convenience for both patients and clinicians.
The lab is also developing a transitional-denture offering. A patient can wear the initial denture and return when ready for a reline impression. Bite-Rite then captures a 360-degree scan of the bite and retains the digital design, enabling the lab to produce a replacement for the price of a reline while allowing patients to keep their original prosthesis as a spare. If a dental practice does not have a scanner, the denture can be sent to Bite-Rite for scanning.
The workflow is proving particularly attractive to dentists looking to reduce chair time and provide a more efficient patient experience.

A Simpler Digital Workflow
For Tim Carson, Bite-Rite's Digital Manager, one of the biggest advantages of the NextDent 300 is the simplicity of the workflow.
"My main focus is digital design and fabrication, and I've 3D printed everything we've produced on the machine," said Carson. "The workflow is pretty simple once you get past the learning curve; it’s very efficient." Carson also highlighted the minimal post-processing requirements compared to other workflows. "I like that you don't have to use alcohol with it. It's clean," he said.
The laboratory also utilizes built-in digital features such as denture identification engraving, which helps satisfy state identification requirements while eliminating manual processing steps previously required with conventional workflows.
Building Toward a Fully Digital Future
Today, Bite-Rite operates with two design stations and a team of digital specialists supporting its growing digital workflow. Keyser believes digital production will continue to expand significantly over the coming years.
"I believe in the next couple of years we'll be 50% to 70% digital," said Keyser.
Carson shares that vision. "I'd like to go fully digital," he said. "Get rid of the wax and plastic teeth and just print everything. That's what my plan is for the future."
As dentist adoption of digital workflows continues to grow, Bite-Rite sees opportunities to expand 3D printed dentures into new markets, including large group practices and nursing home dentistry, where rapid replacement and digital record retention can provide significant clinical and operational benefits.
